Compare Polaroid 600 and GO instant films: format, compatibility, and cost. Learn which film suits your camera and shooting style.
Quick Answer
Choose Polaroid 600 film if you own a 600-series or i-Type camera and want the classic full-size instant photo. Choose Polaroid GO film if you shoot with the compact Polaroid Go camera and prioritize portability and lower per-shot cost.
Format and Compatibility: The Key Difference
The most important difference between Polaroid 600 and GO film is the format. Polaroid 600 film is the classic instant film, producing larger photos that fit 600-series and i-Type cameras. Polaroid GO film is a smaller, newer format designed exclusively for the Polaroid Go camera. You cannot use one film in the other camera, so your camera choice dictates which film you need.
If you are deciding between the two, first check which camera you own or plan to buy. The film format is not interchangeable, so this decision is the first filter.
Cost and Value: What You Pay Per Shot
Price is a practical factor, especially if you shoot frequently. Polaroid 600 film comes in a double pack with 16 exposures and typically costs more upfront, while Polaroid GO film also offers 16 exposures in a double pack but at a lower price. That makes GO film more budget-friendly per shot, though you get a smaller print size.
If you are price-sensitive and want to experiment without high costs, GO film is the more economical entry point. If you value the larger format, the higher per-shot cost of 600 film may be worth it.
Trade-offs: Polaroid 600 vs GO Film
- Photo Size: Polaroid 600 film produces larger, classic instant photos. GO film produces smaller prints, which are more portable but less detailed when viewed up close. If print size matters for display or scrapbooking, 600 film is the better choice.
- Cost per Shot: GO film is cheaper per shot than 600 film, making it more affordable for frequent shooting or experimentation. 600 film costs more, but you get the larger format. If budget is a priority, GO film stretches your money further.
- Camera Compatibility: 600 film only works with Polaroid 600-series and i-Type cameras. GO film only works with the Polaroid Go camera. There is no cross-compatibility. Always check your camera model before buying film to avoid wasting money.
