Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II Lens

Elevate your photography and videography with the Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II Lens, a refined and upgraded version of Sony’s most beloved portrait prime. This lens delivers unparalleled sharpness, stunning bokeh, and enhanced autofocus, making it the go-to choice for professionals and enthusiasts alike. Whether you're capturing portraits, events, or any scene requiring a shallow depth of field, this lens excels in both stills and video.

Unmatched Optical Performance with Smoother Bokeh

The FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II continues Sony's tradition of G Master excellence, now with improved edge-to-edge sharpness and contrast. The lens effectively corrects a variety of spherical and chromatic aberrations, ensuring your images are clear and vibrant. The fast f/1.4 aperture allows for beautiful background blur, and a newly designed 11-blade diaphragm produces smooth, creamy bokeh, making your subjects stand out with artistic flair.

• Advanced Optical Design: Incorporates two XA elements to suppress "onion ring" bokeh and effectively control spherical aberrations.
• Superior Color and Clarity: Two extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations, enhancing color fidelity and overall image quality.
• Nano AR II Coating: Minimizes flare and ghosting, ensuring high contrast and accurate color rendering even in challenging lighting conditions.

Faster, More Accurate Autofocus

Experience a significant leap in autofocus performance with the XD linear motor, offering faster, quieter, and more precise focusing compared to the previous DDSSM system. Whether you're shooting fast-moving subjects or recording video, the autofocus system keeps up effortlessly.

• Enhanced Speed: Supports shooting at up to 120 fps when paired with the Sony a9 III, perfect for capturing dynamic action.
• Internal Focusing Design: Promotes quicker, more responsive focusing, critical for both stills and video.

Optimized for Video

The FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II is not just a photographer's dream; it's also designed with videographers in mind. With minimized focus breathing, precise focus tracking, and the ability to de-click the aperture ring for smooth transitions, this lens is ideal for high-quality video production.

• Focus Breathing Compensation: Supports this feature in select Sony Alpha and cine-line cameras, ensuring consistency in framing.
• Linear Response MF: Provides natural, tactile manual focus control, essential for professional video work.

Compact, Lightweight, and Weather-Sealed Design

Despite its advanced features, the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II is approximately 20% lighter and 13% smaller than its predecessor, making it more portable without sacrificing durability. The lens is built to withstand tough shooting conditions with a dust- and moisture-resistant design and a fluorine-coated front element that repels water and dirt.

• Programmable Focus Hold Buttons: Allow for quick, customizable focus adjustments.
• Robust Build: Hybrid construction balances durability with a lightweight design for versatile use in various environments.
